An irresistible chocolate recipe + some postpartum talk.

Hey friend,

As you probably know by now, I am always on the hunt for delicious and nourishing snacks for my family and I.

As a Holistic Nutrition Consultant, I love to suggest ways to incorporate specific foods into your diet, particularly if you are pregnant or in postpartum.

And this is the perfect treat!

I've made this recipe about 5 times over the past few months and I made some tweaks to it for improvement. This recipe is by far my favourite. It's too good not to share with you.

But first, let's see what's on the blog...

I just wrote a blog about my top 20 foods to eat for postpartum (with meal ideas and my favourite postpartum essentials linked!) so be sure to check it out here.

And if you are pregnant or know someone who is, my book Your Holistic Guide to Pregnancy Nutrition is now on Amazon for $10.99!! Make sure to grab a copy if you want to know more about how to nourish your growing bump and baby.

Now onto my favourite chocolatey-goodness recipe...

My delicious, nourishing chocolate nutty slice (serves 12)

I love that it has a combination of chocolate, butter, nuts and dates! I won't lie - it's easy to eat more than one slice at a time.

Ingredients:

Base:

1.5 cups almond meal

1.5 cups cashews

8 medjool dates

1 cup almond butter (or peanut butter)

1/2 cup pure maple syrup

Topping:

300ml blocks of dark chocolate (70% preferably)

175g butter (salted)

Method:

  1. Blend all base ingredients in a food processor
  2. Melt dark chocolate and butter on low heat over stovetop until fully melted
  3. Place base ingredients firmly over baking paper in a large rectangular ceramic dish
  4. Pour chocolate topping over base until fully covered
  5. Refrigerate for at least half an hour and then cut into small square pieces once set

I'd love to know if you try this recipe and what you think of it! So, please shoot me an email or chat to me on Instagram if you decide to make it :)

Enjoy mama friend & have a delightful end to your week!

TWM, October 2024 Hey mama, I've got some things to share with you. Hey mama, It's officially the third last month of the year. Can you believe it?! I have worked on this little something for the past month, wanting to curate a one page post all about Christmas gifts for the low toxic mama... I know how hard...

TWM, September 2024 Do you struggle with low energy throughout the day? Hey mama friend, It's been beautiful spring weather recently and my energy peaks this time of year, as I am a huge fan of warmer days. Being pregnant means I struggle with my energy levels some days, so I am trying to be super intentional with 'listening' to my body. The other night we splurged and bought burgers and fries for dinner (yep, sometimes the Wholesome Mama eats fast food ;)) The next day, I had a really low...
